Domaine Mérias

Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation

Situated in the heart of the Saint Emilion vineyards, our family estate covers 8ha70 of land on two different terroirs: a clay-limestone hillside and plateau with ideal sun exposure, and an ancient sand plateau. The average age of the vineyard is 40 years. The grape varieties, typical of the Saint-Emilion appellation, are 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The plots are cultivated in the pure Bordeaux tradition, with grass cover, ploughing and reasoned treatments, all of which have enabled us to obtain High Environmental Value certification in 2018 (HVE3).

All the year's work, from pruning to thinning, is carried out by hand to guarantee a reasoned, high-quality yield.

Harvesting is traditional, either manual or mechanical depending on the plot, with an optical sorting table and manual sorting at reception in the winery. A 72-hour pre-fermentation maceration is followed by vinification with indigenous yeasts, in temperature-controlled concrete vats.

The wine is aged for between a year and 18 months in French oak barrels, with an average of 30% renewal depending on the vintage. Our annual production is 50,000 bottles of the estate's different ranges.
